Bulgarian state budget to be revised by BGN97m due to pension hikes

A budget revision of BGN97m will take place by the end of June due to the planned increase of minimum pensions, according to GERB MP and expected future finance minister Vladislav Goranov, local media reported. The amount is supposed to be sufficient to cover the upcoming hike of the minimum pension to BGN180 as of Jul 1 and to BGN 00 as of Oct 1.

MPs from the ethnic minority MRF, officially to remain in opposition, commented for local media that the minimum pension hike will entail an increase of disability and inheritance pensions, which means that a higher revision of BGN200m will be needed. As we reported, the social security institute (NSSI) also estimated a higher impact on budget spending from the pension hikes, agreed by the ruling coalition partners GERB and the United Patriots.
